Texas Rangers sign Joely Rodríguez, per report

Texas Rangers rumors: Joely Rodríguez, a left handed relief pitcher who spent the 2019 season in Japan, has agreed to a two year, $5.5 million deal with the Rangers, per Jon Morosi on Twitter. The deal includes a third year club option.

Rodriguez, 28, was with the Rangers previously, in 2017. In June, 2017, Texas acquired Rodriguez from the Philadelphia Phillies for a player to be named later or cash. Rodriguez put up a 6.33 ERA over 27 innings in 22 appearances for Round Rock before being waived in September. Rodriguez, who had originally signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates and then was traded to the Phillies for Antonio Bastardo, was picked up by the Baltimore Orioles, then went to Japan in July, 2018.
