Coming into this series, the Texas Rangers were on a four-game winning streak. Now they’re on a three-game losing streak.
They’re back at where they started. They’re 5.5 games back in the wild-card standings. Two teams are ahead of them. There are seven games left. While they haven’t been officially been counted out of the playoffs, it’s very unlikely they’ll make it. Consequently, many fans and critics probably feel as if the Rangers quit.
It was truly a rough series for the Rangers. After game one, Jeff Banister had to return to Texas to deal with personal issues so Steve Buechel managed the team the rest of the series.
