Texas Rangers: Danny Santana to be primary CF per Chris Woodward

Entering Spring Training, one of the hottest topics of debate was whether Nick Solak could fight his way into the starting center field role to open the season. Texas Rangers manager Chris Woodward has poured cold water on the position battle though commenting recently that Danny Santana will be the primary center fielder to start the season per a report from TR Sullivan.

In all fairness, this seemed the logical arrangement for the majority of the offseason when the Rangers decided to not pursue a natural center field replacement for Delino DeShields. The club viewed Santana’s bat as everyday quality and felt that center field was the position that could get him the most everyday playing time.
