A source confirmed Wednesday that the team was nearing a three-year, $30 million deal with Lynn, 31, to join their rotation. The deal appears to be lacking only a physical from becoming final.
The news trickled out only hours after reports confirming Morton's two-year deal with Tampa Bay. Morton, 35, took the next step in his career in his mid-30s, ramping up his velocity and sharpening his curveball after signing with Houston.
Last year, in a season split between Minnesota and the New York Yankees, Lynn's velocity jumped to a career high 93.
