Small victories: Young fielders shine in another Rangers loss and other stuff

ARLINGTON - As the season quickly spins toward what the future might hold because the present isn't looking so hot, Friday was significant for one reason: The Rangers played superb team defense.

At present it's about small victories.

They still lost. The bullpen, which has actually been pretty reliable, allowed five runs over the final two innings to seal a 6-2 loss to Seattle. Chris Martin gave up a game-tying homer. Closer Keone Kela, who had not allowed a run in his first six appearances, gave up three. That's going to happen with a young closer occasionally.
