Short-term memory: Rangers rookie Taylor Hearn ready to move past historically bad debut despite elbow injury

SEATTLE -- The seemingly impossible happened Friday.

A day after Taylor Hearn got one out and allowed five runs in his major league debut, the start somehow looked even worse.

It appears that the significant drop in his velocity was not due just to him trying to be too fine with pitches, but to left elbow "tightness." He was put on a plane, sent back to Dallas and will be examined by Dr. Keith Meister this weekend. As a result, Hearn, of Royse City, was placed on the 10-day injured list rather than being optioned to Triple-A Nashville.
