Shohei Ohtani or not, Rangers still considering nontraditional 6-man, 4-man rotations next season

ORLANDO, Fla. - They may be forced to move on from the idea of Shohei Ohtani, but the Rangers aren't moving off the notion of modifying the structure of their starting rotation.

At least not yet.

On the eve of baseball's winter meetings, and with enormous work still to do in constructing a pitching staff, general manager Jon Daniels was non-committal about the formation of the rotation. The Rangers could still go to a version of a six-man rotation. They might even consider something akin to an old-time four-man rotation with a modern-day twist.

"I think we will get through the offseason and look at where our personnel is before we determine usage," Daniels said Sunday.
