Sherten Apostel up, Elvis Andrus to the injured list

The Texas Rangers placed shortstop Elvis Andrus on the injured list with a back strain between games of the doubleheader today. To replace him on the active roster, the Rangers called up third baseman Sherten Apostel.

The 21 year old Apostel was acquired, along with Taylor Hearn, from the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for Keone Kela in 2018. A big power hitter, Apostel split 2019 between low-A Hickory and high-A Down East, slashing .251/.339/.440. He was added to the 40 man roster this past offseason, and would normally have been expected to spend much of the summer with the Roughriders.
