The Texas Rangers traded infielder Alan Trejo to the Colorado Rockies for cash considerations last night, it was announced.
Trejo had spent his entire professional career with the Rockies, including stints in the majors from 2021-24, until he was released last summer. Trejo spent the rest of 2024 post-release in the minors with the Los Angeles Dodgers, and was signed by the Rangers to a minor league deal this past offseason. He played in 19 games for Round Rock playing all over the infield pre-trade, slashing .211/.247/.352.
The Rockies are dealing with a spate of injuries to their infielders that has left them shorthanded, and given their familiar with Trejo, and his familiarity with them, they made a deal with the Rangers to bring him back to the organization to help fill in.
