Sam Fuld to be Phillies g.m., per reports

Sam Fuld is to be named the Philadelphia Phillies’ general manager, per multiple reports. Fuld would be under new president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski, who was hired by the Phillies earlier this month.

Fuld is a Stanford grad who was selected in the 24th round of the 2003 draft by the Chicago Cubs, but didn’t sign, and then was drafted by the Cubs again in 2004, in the 10th round, as a senior. Fuld made his major league debut with the Cubs, then spent three years with the Tampa Bay Rays after being dealt to Tampa by the Cubs in the Matt Garza trade that also saw Robinson Chirinos go to Tampa.
