Sam Dyson suspended for 2021 season

Sam Dyson, former Texas Rangers pitcher who was most recently with the Minnesota Twins, has been suspended for the entirety of the 2021 season, MLB announced today. The suspension is for violating MLB’s domestic abuse policy.

Dyson’s ex-girlfriend, Alexis Blackburn, went public with her account of being physically abused by Dyson in November, 2019, in a series of Instagram posts. She later recounted her experiences in a story in the Athletic in October, 2020. Dyson was a free agent when Blackburn’s allegations first surfaced in November 2019, and did not sign with a team after that, missing the 2020 season.
