Sam Dyson needs shoulder surgery

MLB Rumors: The Minnesota Twins acquired Sam Dyson from the San Francisco Giants at the trade deadline, thinking that the former Texas Ranger closer would fortify their bullpen for the playoffs. Dyson almost immediately landed on the injured list, however, and is now reportedly headed for shoulder surgery that will keep him out until mid-2020.

Per the LaVelle Neal story linked above, “[t]here were no red flags on” Dyson’s medical records that were provided to the Twins before the deal, but Dyson said when he arrived in Minnesota that he had been “pitching with some discomfort” since the middle of July.
