The Rangers have requested release waivers on Ross Detwiler after he rejected an outright assignment
Ross Detwiler, who was designated for assignment by the Rangers over the weekend, has rejected an outright assignment and will be released, per the beat guys on Twitter. Texas will be on the hook for the remainder of his $3.45M salary for this season.
Detwiler was acquired from the Nationals in the offseason to be part of the rotation, but struggled in that role before being put on the disabled list and then moved to the bullpen. He did not have success in a relief role, either, and ends his time in Texas with a 7.
