Texas Rangers pitcher Joe Gatto has cleared waivers and been outrighted to AAA Round Rock, the team announced today. This move leaves the 40 man roster at 39.
Gatto, 25, is a righthanded relief pitcher who spent his entire career with the Angels prior to becoming a minor league free agent after the 2020 season. Gatto, who wasn’t selected to be part of the group at the Angels’ Alternative Training Site, went to Arizona and worked on re-inventing himself as a pitcher. The results at a throwing session were impressive enough that the Rangers gave him a major league deal to sign with them.
