Rangers officially place Adrian Beltre on DL; purchase contract of Hanser Alberto

The decline of venerable Texas Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre continued Tuesday with a second trip to the disabled list in three weeks because of a balky left hamstring.

The team also purchased the contract of Hanser Alberto from Triple-A Round Rock to take Beltre's place on the roster.

Beltre, 39, originally strained the hamstring April 24. He aggravated the injury trying to make a defensive play Sunday at Houston.

This is Beltre's fourth stay on the DL since opening day 2017. He missed the start of last season because of right calf tightness, and the left hamstring caused the past three DL moves.
