The Texas Rangers didn't have a participant in the All-Star game at Truist Park in Atlanta for the first time since 2017. Jacob deGrom made the team, but decided against pitching to preserve his arm for a second-half run.
Nathan Eovaldi was another Rangers' pitcher who deserved to be there as much as anyone, but was snubbed by a combination of the "one player per team" rule and because he had missed time leading up to the Midsummer Classic due to injury.
Eovaldi should have been enjoying the festivities with all the other best players this year, and the organization knew it and decided to reward him.
