ARLINGTON -- The Rangers have placed right-hander Lucas Harrell on the 15-day disabled list with a right groin strain that he sustained in his start against the A's on Tuesday. Right-hander Nick Martinez has been recalled from Triple-A Round Rock to take his place on the roster, but he will pitch in a relief role.
The Rangers are opting to go with a four-man rotation for the time being. Right-hander A.J. Griffin will start against the Rays on Saturday, which was Harrell's next scheduled start. Cole Hamels will start the opener on Friday and Martin Perez will follow Griffin in the series finale on Sunday.
