Rangers claim Sampson from Mariners

ARLINGTON -- The Rangers have claimed injured right-handed pitcher Adrian Sampson off waivers from the Mariners, the club announced on Wednesday.

Sampson is recovering from surgery on the flexor tendon in his right elbow and is not expected to be ready for Spring Training. He has been transferred from the Mariners to the Rangers' 60-day disabled list.

Sampson, 25, made his Major League debut on June 18 against the Red Sox and allowed four runs on eight hits in 4 2/3 innings. He injured his flexor tendon warming up for his next start and ended up having season-ending surgery on June 30.
