Texas Rangers transactions: Jimmy Herget has been claimed off of waivers from the Cincinnati Reds by the Rangers, the team announced today. To make room for the righthanded reliever on the 40 man roster, the Rangers have designated lefthanded reliever Jeffrey Springs for assignment.
Herget, 26, was a 6th round pick of the Reds out of the University of South Florida in 2015. He had a 4.26 ERA and an 8.74 FIP in 6.1 IP in the majors in 2019. Out of the 26 batters he faced, he struck out none, walked 3 and allowed 2 home runs.
