Rangers avoid arbitration with closer Tolleson

ARLINGTON -- The Rangers have agreed to terms with pitcher Shawn Tolleson on a contract for 2016 that avoids an arbitration hearing. Tolleson will make $3.275 million in '16.

Tolleson, who became the Rangers' closer in late May, was 6-4 with a 2.99 ERA in 72 games and had 35 saves in 37 opportunities. His 94.6 percent success rate was the second best in the American League and the highest in club history with a minimum of 20 chances. He was named the Rangers Pitcher of the Year.
