Rangers announce Adrian Beltre's No. 29 will be retired this summer

ARLINGTON - The Rangers did not wait long to retire third baseman Adrian Beltre's No. 29.

Former teammate Michael Young concluded the club's winter banquet on Friday by announcing Beltre's number will be retired in June, at a date to be determined. Beltre retired in November after an illustrious 21-year career, the last eight with the Rangers.

The Rangers previously retired Pudge Rodriguez' No. 7, Johnny Oates' No. 26 and Nolan Ryan's No. 34. Major League Baseball retired Jackie Robinson's No. 42.

Rangers co-chairman Ray Davis contacted Beltre on Wednesday in London to give him the news.
