Rangers activate DeShields, place Tocci on DL

Less than a month after requiring surgery to repair a fractured hamate bone in his left hand, Delino DeShields is back.

The Rangers activated the outfielder ahead of Sunday's game against the Mariners. In a corresponding move, center fielder Carlos Tocci was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a left hip bruise.

DeShields went 3-for-6 over two rehab assignment games in the Minors. The Rangers had initially projected roughly four to six weeks recovery for the athletic center fielder, but DeShields vowed to be back sooner.
