Texas Rangers outfielder Kevin Pillar has been sent out on a rehab assignment with the Frisco Roughriders today. Pillar is at DH and batting second for the Roughriders, who have a 12:05 p.m. game today.
Pillar has been on the injured list since May 4 due to lower back irritation, and it would seem likely that he would be activated at some point this weekend if all goes well. The Rangers are currently carrying three catchers, as when Kyle Higashioka was activated from the injured list yesterday he replaced Corey Seager, rather than Tucker Barnhart, who was brought in to be the backup catcher when Higashioka went on the injured list, so it seems likely Barnhart will end up being dropped when Pillar is activated.
