Jose Alvarado of the Philadelphia Phillies has been suspended for 80 games due to a violation of MLB’s PED policies, it has been announced. The righthanded reliever tested positive for exogenous testosterone, and will also be ineligible for the postseason.
Alvarado, 29, has been a key part of the Phillies’ bullpen since coming over from Tampa Bay as part of a three team trade after the 2020 season. He has a 2.70 ERA in 20 innings covering 20 games for the Phillies this year, and has a 3.37 ERA in 251 appearances for Philadelphia since the start of the 2021 season.
