The games between the Philadelphia Phillies and the Toronto Blue Jays scheduled for this weekend have been postponed, MLB announced today. The postponement is in the aftermath of a Phillies coach and a Phillies home clubhouse attendant having tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday.
The Phillies previously postponed their games scheduled for Monday through Thursday of this week after having played against a Miami Marlins team this past weekend that has had a COVID-19 outbreak sideline over half of their active roster. The tests administered over the weekend and earlier this week had all come back negative, and while the Phillies/Blue Jays game scheduled for Friday was not going to happen that day, the hope had been that the Jays and Phillies would play a doubleheader on Saturday and a single game on Sunday.
