Free agent Martin Perez and the Pittsburgh Pirates are in agreement on a one year, $8 million deal, per multiple reports.
Perez spent the 2022 and 2023 seasons with the Rangers, signing with Texas on a one year, $4 million deal prior to the 2022 season, then accepting the qualifying offer for 2023 after a very strong campaign.
Perez wasn’t able to replicate his success in 2023. The 32 year old lefty got bumped to the bullpen in mid-August, and all three of his playoff appearances involved him being brought in to finish out games that the Rangers were losing.
