The Baltimore Orioles have fired manager Brandon Hyde, the team has announced. Field coordinator Tim Cossins has also been fired. Tony Mansolino has been named the interim manager.
This isn’t all that surprising, as the Orioles have been a massive disappointment this year, and currently have a better record than only the Pittsburgh Pirates (who have already fired their manager, Derek Shelton), the Chicago White Sox, and the Miami Marlins. The Orioles disappointed in the second half of 2024, as well, going 38-40 from July 1 through the end of the season and getting swept in the Wild Card Series for the second year in a row.
