ANAHEIM, Calif. - Based purely on statistics, the Rangers will finish 2018 with the pretty much the same defensive profile as a year ago.
They will have one of the five-highest error totals in the majors, just as they did in 2017. They will rank in the bottom half of the league in defensive runs saved, just as they did last season. They will have one of the top 10 highest totals in costly unearned runs allowed ... you know the rest.
And, yet, there is reason to believe they are improved defensively.
If not from the end of last year, certainly from the early part of this season.
