For the first time on the road, Oakland Athletics backup catcher Bruce Maxwell knelt in the bullpen during the national anthem before his team played against the Texas Rangers in Arlington.

Some scattered boos could be heard in Globe Life Park as his name was announced during the reading of Oakland's lineup by PA announcer Chuck Morgan.

Maxwell first knelt for the national anthem five days ago when the Rangers visited Oakland for a weekend series, joining a growing number of athletes quietly protesting social issues throughout the country. He has knelt before every A's game since.
