MLB Trade Rumors: The Seattle Mariners are acquiring first baseman Josh Naylor from the Arizona Diamondbacks, per reports. Arizona is getting back pitching prospects Brandyn Garcia and Ashton Izzi.
Naylor, 28, was acquired by the D-Backs last winter from the Cleveland Guardians in exchange for Slade Cecconi, and is a free agent after the season. The D-Backs, having dropped 5.5 games out of the third Wild Card spot, had been reported to have shifted to sell mode.
Naylor has a .292/.360/.447 slash line this year, good for a 124 OPS+. Seattle has struggled at first base this year, and released Rowdy Tellez, who had gotten the bulk of the playing time this year, earlier this season.
