MLB Pipeline has their 2021 top 30 prospect list out for the Texas Rangers today, along with a write-up on guys who have moved up, moved down, and stood out.
Maximo Acosta checks in at #6, ahead of the likes of Justin Foscue and Hans Crouse, as well as his initially more heralded J-2 class member Bayron Lora. Acosta was generating a ton of hype pre-COVID, and while his performance in the Instructional League was such that the hype cooled off a little, he’s still very highly regarded.
Fellow Latin American infielder Luisangel Acuna is at #8 on the list, close behind Acosta, and I suspect we will see Acuna in full season ball once the minor league seasons start in May.
