MLB had announced that the 2021 All Star Game will not take place in Atlanta, as originally scheduled. The move is in response to legislation just passed by the State of Georgia that restricts voting access and is widely seen as being an effort to disenfranchise voters and make it easier for the state to overturn the results of an election of the results do not please those in power.
MLB’s announcement indicates the decision was made with the involvement and input of, among others, the MLBPA and the Players Alliance. The MLB Draft, which was also slated to take place in Atlanta, is being relocated as well.
