The New York Mets have agreed to terms with free agent pitcher Luis Severino, per reports. The deal is reportedly one year at $13 million.
Severino, who turns 30 in February, is a righthanded pitcher who has spent his entire career with the New York Yankees. He had a breakout year in 2017, when he finished 3rd in the American League Cy Young Award balloting, and followed it up with a strong 2018 campaign that had folks thinking he would be a solid member of the Yankees rotation for years to come.
Instead, Severino struggled with injuries, pitching just 18 major league innings from 2019-2021.
