Martin to the i.l., Winn up

Texas Rangers relief pitcher Chris Martin has been placed on the 15 day injured list with right shoulder soreness, the team announced today. To replace Martin on the active roster, the Rangers have recalled relief pitcher Cole Winn.

Martin left Sunday’s game after one pitch, the second time in a week that he threw one pitch and left due to injury. The first time it was due to a pop in his elbow, although an MRI showed no structural damage and he felt well enough to pitch again a few days later. Though an MRI on Martin’s shoulder apparently showed no structural damage there, either, the Rangers are opting to place him on the injured list and get him some time off.
