Lance Lynn has a contract extension with the Chicago White Sox, it was announced today. Lynn and the team agreed on a 2 year, $38 million deal with a club option for 2024.
This is good news for Lynn, who gets the security of a multi-year deal with a team that appears well positioned to be a contender for the life of the deal. I’m disappointed, however, because I had hoped to see the Texas Rangers make a run at bringing Lynn back when he hit the market this offseason. I’ve talked before about the possibility of the Rangers going after a couple of older free agent starting pitchers this winter on short term, high AAV deals, and Lynn was one of the pitchers I saw as a possible option.
