Kim Ng named Miami Marlins general manager

The Miami Marlins have hired Kim Ng as their general manager, it was announced today. Ng is the first woman to be named general manager for an MLB club.

Ng graduated from the University of Chicago in 1990 and went to work for the Chicago White Sox in their front office in 1991. She moved to the American League offices in 1997, then joined the New York Yankees in 1998 as assistant general manager. Ng moved to the Los Angeles Dodgers as assistant general manager and vice president in 2001, and remained with them until 2011, when she became Senior Vice President of Baseball Operations for MLB.
