The Chicago Cubs and pitcher Shota Imanaga have agreed to a deal, per reports. Imanaga will undergo a physical in Chicago prior to the deal becoming official.
Imanaga, 30, has spent his entire career with the Yokohama Bay Stars of the NPB up to this point. He put up a 2.66 ERA in 24 appearances covering 159 innings for Yokohama in 2023. Fellow import Yoshinobu Yamamoto was considered the top free agent pitcher in this year’s class and landed $325 million from the Los Angeles Dodgers, and is viewed as a potential top of the rotation type of pitcher.
