ARLINGTON -- If they needed a reminder of their lowly status, the Rangers received it against Tampa Bay.
The Rays, who have the lowest payroll in the majors, completed an emphatic three-game sweep with a 9-3 win against the Rangers on Wednesday at Globe Life Park. The Rangers scored a total of three runs and never had a lead in the series.
Tampa Bay began the day among the top six clubs in the American League by record. The group includes Boston, Cleveland, Houston, Oakland and the New York Yankees.
The Rangers are 20-44 against those teams.
