ARLINGTON -- The Rangers' pitching purge continued on Friday night when the club announced that right-handers A.J. Griffin, Nick Martinez and Chi Chi Gonzalez have not been tendered contracts for 2018.
All three are now free agents. So, too, is infielder Hanser Alberto, who missed all of last season with a right shoulder injury. Gonzalez, the Rangers' No. 1 Draft pick in 2013, missed the entire season with a right elbow injury that required Tommy John surgery on July 24. He is not expected to pitch at all next season and could be re-signed to a Minor League contract.
