Dan Jenkins, legendary longtime sportswriter, has passed away at the age of 89.
Jenkins was a native of Fort Worth who attended Paschal High School and Texas Christian University. Jenkins wrote for the Fort Worth Press and the Dallas Times Herald in the 50s and 60s before moving on to Sports Illustrated, where he spent over 25 years. Jenkins is most associated with golf writing, and after leaving SI wrote for Golf Digest, as well as authoring 23 books, of which his most notable is probably Semi-Tough.
Jenkins has received more awards than I could list here, and is a member of the Texas Sports Hall of Fame.
