First turn through the starting rotation reveals one big positive to Rangers' Tommy John 'support group'

SURPRISE, Ariz. - The Rangers on Friday completed the first round for their starting pitchers returning from Tommy John surgery.

The judges scored it as Pitchers 3, Tommy John 0.

All three got through a one-inning appearance without complaints from their repaired arms. Shelby Miller and Edinson Volquez were scored upon, and Drew Smyly had a perfect inning.

At this stage, the Rangers care about how the pitchers are faring, not their line in the box score. They were happy with what they saw from all three.

"A good starting point," manager Chris Woodward said.
