David Price opts out of playing in 2020

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher David Price has announced that he will not be playing in 2020 due to the Coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic. Price indicated he will return for the 2021 season.

Price is in the fifth year of a 7 year, $217 million deal that he originally signed with the Boston Red Sox. Boston traded Price and Mookie Betts to the Dodgers this season in an on-again, off-again three way deal that turned into a lengthy saga and ultimately required a reworking of the pieces to get done.
