Chirinos to the Yankees, per report

The New York Yankees and our old friend Robinson Chirinos have reportedly agreed to terms on a minor league contract. Jon Heyman says the deal is for a $1 million base, with $500K in incentives and multiple opt-outs.

Chirinos, who turns 37 in June, spent 2013-18 with the Rangers, initially as the team’s backup catcher, and then in his final two seasons as their primary catcher. The Rangers declined his option for 2019 in what was a surprising and controversial move, with the result being the Houston Astros grabbing Chirinos for a 2019 salary that was more than what the option the Rangers declined was for.
