Cashner is expected to join the Rangers in Anaheim on Tuesday as they open a three-game series against the Angels. The Rangers have not decided what his next step will be.
The Rangers began the season with a four-man rotation but will need a fifth starter on Saturday against the Mariners in Seattle. Cashner could start that game or he could get at least one more start in the Minor Leagues. He was supposed to pitch for Double-A Frisco on Monday, but he was diverted to Arizona because of concerns about the weather in Texas.
If Cashner does not start against the Mariners, the Rangers could turn to either Nick Martinez, Dillon Gee or Eddie Gamboa.
