Derek Holland may be the most important player on the Rangers roster. He has the single-handed ability to transform the starting rotation from good to great.
And, yet, from one night to the next, the Rangers are never sure whether they will get the debonair Dr. Derek or his alter-ego the more ghastly Mr. Holland. Judging by the results Tuesday, it was Good Holland who showed up with 6.2 scoreless innings in an 8-0 win over Seattle.
Sometimes results can be deceiving.
Oh, that's not to suggest Holland was bad on Tuesday.
