Calhoun, Montero doubtful for Opening Day

Outfielder Willie Calhoun and relief pitcher Rafael Montero appear unlikely to be ready to go on Opening Day, per the beat guys on Twitter.

Calhoun tweaked his hip in Monday’s intrasquad game, and had an MRI yesterday that revealed a grade 1 strain. Calhoun is questionable for Opening Day, and though start the season on the injured list is a possibility, the 30 man roster for the first two weeks gives Texas some flexibility to carry him even if he’s not immediately available. Nick Solak would likely man left field if Calhoun misses time.
