Braves sign Drew Smyly: 1 year, $11 million

The Atlanta Braves and pitcher Drew Smyly have reportedly agreed to a one year, $11 million deal for the 2021 season.

Yes, that Drew Smyly — the one who was designated for assignment by the Texas Rangers in the summer of 2019 after he put up a 8.42 ERA in 51.1 IP split between the rotation and the bullpen.

If you haven’t been following him since he left the Rangers — and it would be understandable if you haven’t — Smyly was signed by the Milwaukee Brewers to a minor league deal in July, 2019, after he was released by the Rangers.
