Third baseman Adrian Beltre could be headed back to the disabled list in the coming days because of a sprained left ankle that was in a walking boot late Tuesday after the Texas Rangers’ 10-8 victory over the New York Mets.
Beltre was injured in the first inning as he hit first base awkwardly while legging out the back end of a double play. His hustle resulted in the Rangers’ first run, and he remained in the game until being replaced by pinch-runner Pete Kozma after a sixth-inning walk.
X-rays of the ankle were negative, Beltre said, but he does not expect to play Wednesday.
