Houston Astros starting pitchers had a 3.50 ERA (eighth in the major leagues) in April. Samuel Deduno lasted 4 2/3 innings and allowed 10 earned runs in Wednesday’s 11-3 loss to the Texas Rangers, bringing the starters’ to a 7.16 ERA in May.

Deduno became the first pitcher this season to allow 10 earned runs in a game (Clay Buchholz, April 12, is the only other pitcher to allow 10 runs, but one was unearned).
