First baseman Nick Kurtz, the #4 overall selection in the 2024 MLB Draft and the consensus top prospect for the team formerly known as the Oakland A’s, is being called up to the majors, per reports.
The A’s start a three game series at home against the Texas Rangers on Tuesday, and clearly decided that they needed reinforcements to deal with the Rangers’ dominant pitching. The A’s have been getting quality production from first baseman Tyler Soderstrom and DH Brent Rooker, so calling Kurtz up now is a bit unexpected, though I guess they will put Rooker in a corner outfield spot for the time being.
